Four Old Fashioneds Are Better Than One

With the Whiskey Wayfarer, guests at Tupelo Honey are invited on a guided tour through American whiskey country—one sip at a time. This cleverly curated flight features four mini Old Fashioneds, each built to spotlight the unique character of a different whiskey while honoring the cocktail’s booze-forward simplicity.

“The flight is designed to showcase the differences that various types of whiskeys can have in an Old Fashioned cocktail,” says Lindsey Farris-Felty, beverage director of this Southern-inspired concept. The lineup includes Maker’s Mark Kentucky straight bourbon, made with soft red winter wheat for a smooth finish; Uncle Nearest 1856, a bold, high-proof Tennessee whiskey; Chicken Cock Kentucky straight bourbon, a pre-Prohibition classic; and Redemption Rye, featuring a 95 percent rye mash that brings in heavy spice notes. “One of the biggest challenges—and joys—was narrowing it down to just four whiskeys.”

Born from the success of its mimosa flights, Tupelo Honey’s new offering has struck a chord with guests. “The Old Fashioned is already one of our top-selling cocktails,” says Farris-Felty. “This flight builds on something our guests already love.” The Whiskey Wayfarer is a perfect answer to today’s demand for immersive, interactive experiences, all while providing a lighthearted education to guests.
