Many inventive menu applications are born from a desire to satisfy multiple cravings in a single dish. Take the Brew-Ben, a gourmet burger crafted with a nod to the classic Reuben sandwich. “It pays homage to tradition, infused with a burst of innovation,” says Tammy Verhagen, a franchise owner in the Mr Brews Taphouse craft beer chain, who credits development of the dish to Jason Mackie, general manager, who passed away earlier this year. “It stands as a testament to his passion for flavor and his unwavering dedication to the art of burger crafting,” she notes.
The Brew-Ben features corned beef, melted Swiss cheese and tangy sauerkraut, topped with a signature sauce. “It’s the perfect combination of tradition and innovation, evoking a sense of nostalgia, while offering a fresh take on the Reuben and setting it apart as a standout choice for those seeking a memorable dining experience,” says Verhagen. Highlighting Irish corned beef, the Brew-Ben was the chain’s burger-of-the-month in March, and its popularity led to a permanent menu spot at select locations.
